Chongqing DENSO Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “CQD”) was established in March 1996, and its plant completed in June. In December 1997, the preparatory work went off without a hitch, the production line went officially into operation, and CQD’s business was launched. In October 2002, the company changed its management to solely foreign-owned capital.

2012 was an important year as the company’s business entered a period of rapid growth. In June, DENSO merged Chongqing DENSO Co., Ltd. (CQD), which was engaged in the production and sale of motorcycle parts, with motorcycle parts manufacturer Kunshan Gongcheng Electrical Appliance Co., Ltd. to form Gongcheng DENSO (Chongqing) Co., Ltd (hereinafter, “GCDN”). Through this business integration, DENSO sought to strengthen the joint venture’s competitiveness in China’s motorcycle market. In the same month, GCDN opened its Kunshan Branch. Following this, it began mass production of medium and large magnet generator assemblies.

The next 20 years flew by rapidly. As the Chinese market expanded, GCDN’s business grew steadily. On September 6, 2016, the company held its 20th anniversary celebration ceremony under the theme “To a future together, with gratitude in our hearts.” The celebrations were held at GCDN’s Chongqing plant and attended by many executives from Japanese headquarters, including President & CEO Yamashita, Chairman of the Board Eiichi Kurokawa, President of DENSO (China) Investment (DICH) Murakami, and Director of GCDN Fu Qiang.

At the opening ceremony, there were opening speeches by executives such as Chairman of the Board Kurokawa and Director Fu, and the splitting of a paper kusudama to release confetti amid a rousing rendition of “Unity is Power.” After the speeches, the banquet got underway with a graceful rendition of “Grateful Heart” as the guests and executives celebrated the 20th anniversary together. The banquet was filled with joy and laughter, with congratulatory speeches given by members of each department. During the banquet, appreciation was shown to veteran employees who have worked quietly and diligently in the workplace for 20 years, and merit awards were presented to employees with more than 10 years of service. GCDN’s development today cannot be separated from the fact that the DENSO Group, its executives, and its employees have worked together to overcome hardship in a spirit of collaboration. As the banquet drew to a close, all the guests raised their glasses and drank to the future. At the very end, a commemorative photo was taken.
