5. DENSO Manufacturing (Tianjin) Motor Co., Ltd. (DMTM) established
Tianjin Asmo Automotive Small Motor Co., Ltd. established
On May 28, 1996, the first board meeting of Tianjin Asmo Automotive Small Motor Co., Ltd. was held in the company's conference room. Senior management appointments and organizational structures were approved at the meeting, as well as various internal regulations and systems. During this period, preliminary meetings were held by Chairman of the Board Wang Fang and Vice Chairman of the Board Yoshimichi Shirai, and organizational preparations for formal operations went smoothly. On May 29, 1996, Tianjin Asmo Automotive Small Motor held its opening ceremony at The Astor Hotel Tianjin. Senior members of the group, including Japan's Asmo President Hiroshi Shiga, Managing Director Yoshimichi Shirai, and Toyota Tsusho's Managing Director Shimazu, came from far away to Tianjin to grace the ceremony.
The company moved in May 2004 to its new plant, with a cornerstone ceremony held on May 18. Following the successful launch of the new plant, in December 2005 the company introduced production lines for many new motors and their subassemblies, including K type blower motors, GS power window motors, C type seat motors, and GP wiper motors. Production capacity was continuously expanded and product quality further improved.
Tianjin Asmo Automotive Small Motor Co., Ltd. changes name to DENSO Manufacturing (Tianjin) Motor Co., Ltd.
In August 2011 the company held the completion ceremony for its Phase 2 plant, extended in response to the strong growth of the Chinese economy. On May 13, 2019, Tianjin Asmo Automotive Small Motor Co., Ltd. marked the official start of its mass production of the BF23 motor (hereinafter, “BF23”). President Tokuda, Vice President Toyama, and General Manager Liu of the Manufacturing Department led the commemorative ceremony, which was attended by the entire staff of the Manufacturing Division and all related departments. First, Tokuda talked to all the participants about the importance of BF23 as a core product in the future, and then, on the call of Toyama, everyone watched the official line-off of the first BF23 on production line 7. The assistant manager in charge of the BF23 handed the motor to Tokuda, and at the end everyone had a group photo taken together. The mass production of BF23 motors proved that Tianjin Asmo Automotive Small Motor had the ability to produce products with superior performance. Production line 7 for the BF23 consists of fully automated production lines, and the tact time (time required to manufacture one part) is 2.7 seconds. This is a landmark product among DENSO China’s production companies and will further contribute to the Chinese automotive market.
With the development of its business, Tianjin Asmo Automotive Small Motor Co., Ltd. changed its name in October 2019 to DENSO Manufacturing (Tianjin) Motor Co., Ltd. (DMTM). In September 2020, its Chinese shareholder changed to the Baili Zhuangbei Group.
DMTM now combines leading-edge manufacturing technology with advanced processing and inspection equipment, and strictly enforces DENSO's control method. It has excellent R&D and management teams, and has established a scientific quality control system. It is currently a major supplier of automotive micromotor products such as Tianjin FAW Toyota, Sichuan FAW Toyota, Guangzhou Toyota, Guangzhou Honda, Beijing Hyundai, Changan Suzuki, Changan Ford, Shanghai GM, Dongfeng KIA and Changchun FAW Fengyue.
