1. History of Tianjin DENSO Electronics Co., Ltd.

In July 1997, as DENSO expanded its business in China and the Chinese automotive market continued to develop, Tianjin DENSO Electronics (TDE) was established in the Tianjin Economic Development Zone. Initially, the plant mainly manufactured AC amplifiers, engine ECUs, and gasoline pumps, and the company employed only about 100 people. Following the establishment of FAW Toyota in the development zone in 2003, TDE expanded its plant twice between 2004 and 2007 (2nd and 3rd phases) in order to meet the needs of its customers, developing into DENSO China’s only production base for electronic components, with key products including automotive electronic ECUs and meters. In 2018, due to demand for hybrid electric vehicle production and the acceleration of in-house manufacturing processes, TDE again expanded its plant (phase 4) and began producing EHV products and molded products. After three expansions, TDE’s first plant was complete, and by the end of 2018, TDE had a site area of 100,000 m2, 1,832 employees, and sales of 6.1 billion yuan. With the advent of the CASE era in the automotive industry, TDE’s second plant began construction in 2019 and was completed and put into operation in 2021. Major products include millimeter wave and vision sensors for smart driving, battery monitoring systems for the new energy field, and hybrid ECUs. By 2022, TDE had grown into a complex manufacturing plant with a site area of 150,000 m2, sales exceeding 10 billion yen, and more than 2,500 employees.
During its more than 25 years of growth, TDE has acquired relevant certifications such as IATF 16949/ISO 14001/ISO 45001/ISO 50001 and Customs Enterprise Classification AA (AEO high-level certification). Honors received include Tianjin and TEDA Top-100 Company, 2020 National Model Enterprise of Open and Democratic Management of Plant Affairs (a first for the DENSO Group (China)), 2022 National Model Company for Building Harmonious Labor-Management Relations (a first for a foreign company), and 2023 National Green Factory.

2. Building a plant (3LI plant) with idealistic, energetic, and clean people dedicated to DENSO’s cause

Based on DENSO Group’s long-term policy for 2030, TDE aims to be recognized and selected by Chinese stakeholders for "environment and peace of mind," and is developing priority activities under the "We are 3 Li (Idealistic, Energetic, Clean) TDE" company concept for 2030.
In terms of "idealistic", we are working to transform from a regional mother company into a world-class manufacturing plant, under the slogan, "Let’s create a TDE that speeds up the realization of our ideals." Specifically, we are taking action to gain recognition in the community, such as by establishing TDE classes in partnership with Tianjin Technical Vocational School in order to secure highly skilled human resources, conducting SDG activities with JAL, MUFG, and others, and strengthening relations with the government through external relations activities. We are also taking on the challenge of fully automating logistics by introducing an automatic warehouse for electronic components and a transport control system in order to guarantee quality AI through full automation of inspection operations and to eliminate low value-added work.

In terms of "energetic", we are striving to become a manufacturing plant full of smiles and enthusiasm, under the slogan, "Let’s create a TDE full of energy." We build a healthy company foundation through activities to promote physical and mental health, including health KPI management for all employees, yoga classes, and psychological counseling. In addition, we foster a sense of unity in the company by implementing CN activities in which all employees participate voluntarily, and company-wide activities for employees and their families (family days, year-end parties, sports days, etc.) To promote self-initiative and a sense of responsibility among employees, we also encourage their independent proposals and give out monthly MVP Awards.

In terms of "clean", we are working under the slogan, "Let’s create a plant that is clean and attractive, a plant that is safe and secure for the local community." Specifically, through activities to achieve carbon neutrality, such as DENSO's first introduction of water purification equipment for painted water tanks, development of energy-saving equipment for solder heating, and development of equipment for cleaning empty dry ice boxes, and through DENSO-style RA (risk assessment) activities in all departments, we are raising safety awareness and achieving zero serious accidents.
In recognition of these activities, we have been recognized as a TEDA Advanced Ecological and Environmental Protection Company for 17 consecutive years, and in 2024 as a Tianjin Binhai New Area Health Promotion Company and a TEDA Advanced Safety Production Company.

Tianjin DENSO Electronics will further develop its activities to become an irreplaceable presence for customers, communities, suppliers, governments, schools, employees and their families by establishing 3 Li plants, which are highly praised by people around the world.
