1. Tianjin Fawer DENSO Air-Conditioner Co., Ltd. established
Since China's reform and opening-up, Tianjin has taken advantage of its unique strengths to quickly become one of the most important bases for China's automotive industry. A number of important DENSO customers (car manufacturers) have built joint ventures in Tianjin and started local production. This market environment has further accelerated DENSO's business development in the Tianjin area. In 2003, DENSO (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "DICH") and Fawer Automobile Parts Co., Ltd., a member of the FAW Group, began discussing a partnership.
The partnership involved the construction of a joint venture plant to produce car air conditioners, mainly for supply to Tianjin FAW Toyota and other finished car manufacturers in the surrounding area. During the discussion period, the two sides had many disagreements on matters such as the scope of the business and the terms of the joint investment. However, thanks to the dual elements of a common goal of looking to the future and a good relationship of trust between the two teams of executives, the partnership agreement signing ceremony was held in July of the same year. In October, a ceremony was held to officially establish Tianjin Fawer DENSO Air-Conditioner Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "TFDA").
This was the second production company in which DICH invested to build a plant, and the company again succeeded in a joint venture plant construction project, following the Guangzhou DENSO (DMGZ) joint venture with GAC. This strong alliance between DENSO and FAW further spurred DENSO's expansion in the Chinese automobile market.

TFDA established the Changchun Branch in December 2010 and Foshan Branch in April 2012 in order to realize more customer-oriented and localized production. Now with plants in Tianjin, Changchun, and Foshan, spanning Northeast China, North China, and South China, the company has greatly increased its production capacity. Supported by high-quality products, advanced technology, and the DENSO Group's advanced management system, TFDA has steadily grown into a major player in the industry.
2. Tianjin Fawer DENSO Air-Conditioner 10th anniversary & 5 millionth
On December 6, 2013, TFDA held its 10th anniversary celebration. The ceremony opened with an exhilarating water drum dance. The event was attended by Liu Qige, Deputy District
Commissioner of Tianjin's Xiqing District; Ye Fan, President of Fawer Automobile Parts; Akio Shikamura, Senior Executive Director of DENSO (and Vice President of TFDA); Noboru Yamada, President of DICH (and Director of TFDA); past expatriates of TFDA; and related executives of the Fawer Group and DENSO Group, as they celebrated TFDA's 10th anniversary together with all the company's employees.
At the ceremony, executives of each class gave speeches, praising TFDA's achievements over the last 10 years and expressing high hopes for the joint venture to continue to thrive despite the tough competition ahead. As the main ceremony began, the seven-color, three-dimensional characters for "Fawer-DENSO 10th Anniversary" slowly rose from the platform, and the excitement of the celebration reached a climax. ABC employees danced in their work clothes, a display of their continued passion for their work. As the dancing drew to a close, TFDA's 5 millionth air conditioner was ceremoniously brought onto the stage. Successive TFDA chiefs and vice chiefs tied a ribbon onto the landmark air conditioner, witnessing its birth up close and celebrating it together. A representative employee took an oath of office, and then all the employees cheered loudly together three times, their voices shaking the entire hall.
"Jiayou (Cheer)! Jiayou (Cheer)! Jiayou (Cheer)!" 3. Tianjin Fawer DENSO Air-Conditioner 10 millionth air conditioner

Since the construction of its plant in 2003, all members of TFDA have worked tirelessly in a spirit of collaboration, from the first plant in Tianjin to the current three plants in Tianjin, Changchun, and Foshan, running from north to south. After 14 years of work, on July 18, 2017, the total number of air conditioners produced at the three plants reached 10 million units.
That afternoon, a grand line-off ceremony was held in the product area for TFDA's 10 millionth air conditioner. Members of the China Regional Board of Directors, VIPs from Thermal China Center, or TCC (renamed <CH Thermal>, or CHT, in 2022), executives of three TFDA group companies, and all employees of TFDA Tianjin witnessed this wonderful moment together. The ceremony officially began once all the guests and the executives of the three TFDA plants had watched the 10 millionth air conditioner come off the production line.
The ceremony participants were then shown a video of TFDA's 14-year history. Everyone in the room was deeply moved and delighted by the many memories included along the company's path of steady progress. Next, President Ushida, Vice President Zhang Xing-bo, Chairman of the Board Gan Xian Guo, and Director Kazumasa Kimura each delivered remarks, reflecting on the company's outstanding achievements and offering new expectations for all TFDA members.
After more speeches by executives and guests, one employee representative led all the others in a loud and resounding oath, and they ended by shouting "Fawer DENSO people" in an expression of their enthusiasm and passion for their work. 4. Tianjin Fawer DENSO Air-Conditioner 20th anniversary & 20 millionth
On October 13, 2023, a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of Tianjin Fawer DENSO Air-Conditioner Co., Ltd. (TFDA) was held at its production site under the theme "A new direction for all things, a new momentum is created." All employees of TFDA and employee representatives of branch plants attended, as well as executives from the related departments of Fawer Automotive Parts. In all, there were more than 400 people at the ceremony, including DICH and CHT office staff, DENSO executives in China, and past TFDA expats who had traveled a long way to attend.
During the ceremony preparations, floral tributes were sent one after another from the headquarters of both shareholders and from each of the sibling companies. At 13:15, each invited guest signed their arrival in the lobby and had a commemorative photo taken with TFDA’s mascot characters Kaier and Weier. They were then shown to the guest waiting room, where they mingled in a friendly atmosphere while viewing wonderful images of the divisions at TFDA’s three sites. Before the official start of the celebrations, the guests were divided into three groups and, accompanied by senior company executives, were given a tour of the site. At 15:18 on October 13, the 20th anniversary celebration officially began. The PR video "20 Tumultuous Years of Fawer DENSO" about TFDA’s 20th anniversary was shown at the ceremony venue along with the opening dance, "Passion." The executives expressed high hopes for the future development of TFDA. They then went up to the stage together to start the main ceremony of the 20th anniversary celebrations, and employee representatives from TFDA’s various divisions and from the branch plants each gave a wonderful performance. Starting with the production of its first air conditioner in 2004, TFDA has now reached its 20 millionth car air conditioner off the line. The door to the future slowly opened, and with it, a fourth-generation AGV with that 20 millionth air conditioner drove slowly out toward the audience, accompanied by employee representatives from the fifth, tenth, fifteenth, and twentieth years of the three plants.
TFDA's past presidents and vice presidents were watching with everyone, and signed the commemoration of TFDA's 20 millionth air conditioner off the line. At this historic moment, employee representatives from the various TFDA divisions gave a heartfelt pledge in a clear, resonant voice. Time passes very quickly, and 20 years is but a moment in the long stream of history, but this period was truly magnificent, like a huge wave surging forward. 20 years of cooperating and struggling together have left us with some valuable assets, but 20 years of overcoming hardships together have left us with a heavy responsibility.
While we are very proud of our achievements over this time, we must never forget our new and old employees and expatriates who worked so diligently and contributed to the development of our company. It was their ability to change everyone’s mindset, practice kaizen (making continuous improvements), and pioneer the way forward that made TFDA what it is today.
We have grown into a blue-chip company in the automotive parts industry, with employees practicing together the common values of "change, win-win, consideration, responsibility, integrity, and will." Based on safety and quality, TFDA will continue to promote kaizen for efficiency and intelligence, and will continually strive for higher goals to realize our corporate vision of becoming "China's leading thermal systems supplier." Our 20th anniversary marks a new starting point, from which we will forge a new path toward an even brighter future.
