1. Corporate history
DENSO Smart Information Technology Co., Ltd. established In June 2002, DENSO Create Inc. invested in and established DENSO Smart Information Technology Co., Ltd. In October of the same year, the company began software development contract work, and in December, it opened its “Development Center” in Shanghai’s Zhangjiang High-Tech Park. In September 2004, it further optimized its operations by integrating its Development Center and Technology Center to form “Software Center.” In October 2008, it was certified as a “Software Enterprise” and in December as a “Shanghai Service Outsourcing Key Enterprise.”
Name changed to DENSO Software Shanghai Co., Ltd.
In April 2009, in order to meet the growing needs of the car navigation system market in China and to build a software development system more closely aligned with the design division of DENSO (China) Investment (DICH), DENSO Create’s Japan headquarters transferred all of its shares in DENSO Smart Information Technology, which was engaged in the car navigation system software development business, to DICH, which changed the software company’s name to DENSO Software Shanghai Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “DNSS”). The Xi’an Branch of DNSS was opened in that same year.
DNSS received its first “Shanghai Technology Advanced Corporation” certification in December 2009, in recognition of its advanced level of technology. It was recertified in December 2014. In November 2010, it obtained Level 5 accreditation for CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) in further recognition of the high level of its operations. Furthermore, in September 2013, it received the title of “Shanghai Software & IT Services Export Company.”
2. DENSO (Shanghai) Information Technology Co., Ltd. changes name to DENSO Shanghai Smart Mobility Technology Co., Ltd.
In 2019, under the policy of strengthening the software business of DENSO China, the role of DENSO Software Shanghai Co., Ltd. in the DENSO Group (China) was reconsidered and the company given a higher level mission. On September 12, its name was changed to "DENSO Shanghai Smart Mobility technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, 'DNST')" Because this year was the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Xi'an Branch, celebrations were held in both Shanghai and Xi'an. Today, as a software company wholly owned by DENSO, one of the world's leading auto parts suppliers, the company is responsible for software oversight and R&D in the China region within the Group. In light of the ever-widening range of software applications in the automotive field, DNST, as DENSO's software leader in China, is committed to making smart mobility even better with software.
DNST received CMMI Level 5 certification in 2010. It steadily pursues project improvements, consistently upholding the DENSO Group's basic philosophy of "responding to the changing times, pioneering and innovating, putting Quality First, and putting the Customer First." As well as working hard to raise the level of its core technologies, the company adheres strictly to software quality and strives to produce high-quality market-leading products. DNST will become a leading software developer in the automotive industry, focusing its efforts on automotive innovation and the creation of a smart mobility society.
3. DENSO Shanghai Smart Mobility Technology Co., Ltd. 20th anniversary
From November 2 to 3, 2023, under the theme "Seize the moment, win the future," celebrations for the 20th anniversary of DENSO Shanghai Smart Mobility Technology Co., Ltd. (DNST) were held in Shanghai (main venue) and Xi'an (sub-venue). More than 200 people, including all employees of DNST, the executives of DNJP and DICH, and guests from related divisions of partner companies, attended the celebration, reflecting together on the numerous achievements of DNST over 20 years, and stepping forward together into a future of endless possibilities.
The ceremony featured intense, stirring music and cool, dazzling lasers, and the entire venue burst into flames when the bosses appeared on stage. "The future DNST is launched!" declared the triumphant bosses together. What does our future look like? DNST established a transformation team to discuss our future and succinctly described it with four key words: agility, conviction, challenge, and collaboration. In Shanghai, there was a 100-person oil painting event, and a cappella version of "Together into the Future" sung by the entire workforce, demonstrating their teamwork and limitless potential. In Xi'an, several departments collaborated to make a mini-film based on the above four key words, which was filled with an understanding and aspiration for the future of DNST. Amid the celebrations, the labor union also held a Family Day event titled "A big hand leading a small hand into the future," to instill DNST’s corporate culture among employees and their families, from top to bottom.
The past 20 years have witnessed the rapid development and evolution of DNST. Having started out as an outsourcing company, DNST is now responsible for software development for nearly all DENSO products. Each step forward has been in DNST’s pursuit of excellence and the result of constant innovation, including CMMI Level 5 certification in 2010, recognition with the President's Award in 2011, successful completion of a major navigation project in a short period of time in 2012, and the major transition from single HMI development to large-scale ECU software development in 2016. DNST has remained technologically advanced and market-aware throughout, and will continue to strive for technological innovation and quality improvement to deliver even better products and services to our customers.
With the current rise of new energy vehicles, DNST, with its focus on software development, is playing an increasingly important role in the localization and true autonomy of DENSO China, and will face the challenge by combining all available domestic and international forces. This 20th anniversary is about looking back, and our entire past is our underlying strength and solid defense with which we take on the future. Our 20th anniversary gives us perspective as we look to the future, when DNST will again venture forth into the unknown. With agility, conviction, challenge, and collaboration at our core, DNST will remain people-based and technology-centric, seizing the moment and winning the future. Amidst this once-in-a-century transformation, we are pressing ahead toward a bright future with collaboration and a united mindset at all levels.
