Overview of DENSO Environmental Action Guidelines

Led by our Environment Committee established in December 1992, we have formulated DENSO Environmental Action Guidelines and the DENSO Environmental Action Plan in order to comprehensively address global environmental issues.
These principles were established to elaborate on the environmental protection and resource conservation points originally set forth in our Basic Guidelines for Corporate Behavior in December 1991 with the aim of “becoming a company that resonates with people and society.”
The NIPPONDENSO Environmental Action Principles provide a set of guidelines for activities ranging from company management to employee behavior.

Environmental Action Principles
  1. Eliminating adverse environmental impact at all stages of business activities
  2. Developing technologies and systems that contribute to global environmental solutions
  3. Building harmonious relations with society
  4. Established Environmental Committee to improve the level of environmental management

Overview of ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA)

The ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) was formed during the 4th ASEAN Summit in 1992 to eliminate trade barriers such as tariffs and volume restrictions within the ASEAN region, thereby strengthening the region's competitiveness as a production base for products destined for the global market. When AFTA was established, there were six ASEAN members (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand), but later Vietnam (1995), Laos, Myanmar (1997), and Cambodia (1999) joined too, creating a regional economic cooperation zone of ten Southeast Asian countries.

Overview of European Integration (Establishment of the EU)

At the 1991 summit meeting of the European Community (EC) held in Maastricht, the Netherlands, the Treaty on European Union, commonly known as the Maastricht Treaty, was agreed upon with the aim of promoting economic and political integration of the EC. The treaty was concluded in 1992 and came into effect in November 1993. The agreement provides for the establishment of an economic and monetary union (monetary unification and the issuance of a single currency, the euro), a common foreign and security policy (European integration in foreign affairs and security), judicial and internal affairs cooperation (national coordination in police cooperation, refugee protection, etc.), and European citizenship (free movement, consular protection from other countries, etc.) The 12 member countries at the time of its establishment were France, West Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Denmark, Ireland, the UK, Greece, Spain, and Portugal.
