Continuous expansion throughout Europe
Since the Dutch already introduced the Japanese society to European culture in the 17th century, the first representative office was established in Amsterdam, The Netherlands In 1972. One year later the regional headquarters Nippondenso Europe (now DENSO International Europe) was established in Weesp, The Netherlands. Since then DENSO Europe grew and has sales companies and manufacturing plants all over Europe.

DENSO has 29 official group companies with over 40 locations in Europe (as of March 31, 2016). A total of European 14 languages are spoken (actually 15 if we include the DENSO operations in Morocco). DENSO in Spain
Greenfield sites allowed for growth
Established in June of 1989 in Sant Fruitós de Bages, located around 60 kilometers from Barcelona with the name VND, a joint venture with VALEO (50 percent) and NIPPONDENSO (50 percent) was built. While changing its name to NIPPONDENSO Barcelona S.A., production started in 1991. In 2004, DENSO Sistemas Termicos Espana S.A was established. At this greenfield site, production started in 2006. Both companies have seen significant expansion and sales growth.
High-tech in Spain
In Spain, DENSO produces electronics, information & safety, powertrain and thermal systems and components. This is done with the most up-to-date manufacturing technology befitting DENSO’s unique strength of Monozukuri (the art of making things).
