1. Establishment of NIPPONDENSO COMPRESSORES LTDA. (NDBC)
[3] Establishing a manufacturing plant in Curitiba, Paraná

December 1981
Following a comprehensive investigation into weather conditions, the industrial environment, parts procurement, and the infrastructure in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and several other states, NDBC purchased a 100,000 m2 lot in an industrial park in Curitiba, Paraná, in May 1980. The first phase of plant construction commenced the following year in April 1981, with NDBC relocating its headquarters from São Paulo to Curitiba in August and completion of the unique brick plant building in December.
After pilot operations, NDBC began producing compressors in June 1982, and initiated delivery to GM Brazil in July. NDBC also planned to produce windshield washer pumps.

We believe in friendship, sweat, and hard work, which is why we will flourish and shine.”
Fubito Hirano, December 1982
The opening ceremony for the plant was held on December 4th in the same year, with the Governor of Paraná, the Minister of Industry, guests from among DENSO’s automobile manufacturer customers, and guests from Toyota Industries Corporation as the joint venture partner in attendance. Blessed with fine weather on the day of the ceremony, the venue displayed the national flags of Brazil and Japan, and was decorated with vivid South American flowers. The ceremony began with a prayer by a priest, after which Fubito Hirano, Chairman of DENSO Headquarters, declared the opening of NDBC.
