Climate Control Products Air Conditioner for Passenger Vehicles

An air conditioner for passenger vehicles consists of a compressor, condenser, control device and air conditioning unit. It circulates refrigerant via refrigeration cycle, absorbs heat in the cabin via evaporator, and releases heat with a condenser to the exterior to cool down the cabin air temperature.

Components

HVAC Unit

The air conditioning system keeps cabin air at a preset temperature by mixing cool air supplied by its cooler unit and warm air from its heater unit. An air conditioning system warms up the air it has cooled to dehumidify it. It also controls the airflow volume and switches from one blower to another to maintain a comfortable climate in the cabin. The HVAC Unit combines these functions.

Evaporator

In an air conditioning system, refrigerant is circulated to remove heat and cool cabin air. When liquid refrigerant in an air conditioning system is vaporized in an Evaporator, it cools the surrounding air because of the latent heat of vaporization.
Ejector Cycle System (ECS) Evaporator
A conventional evaporator has an expansion valve at its inlet to reduce the pressure of liquid refrigerant and facilitate its evaporation. The ECS uses an ejector instead of an expansion valve, which helps to increase fuel efficiency. The ECS Evaporator is a device that integrates an evaporator with an ejector.

Heater Core

A Heater Core is a heat exchanging device that warms air by using the heat of the engine coolant. The high temperature engine coolant flows through the Heater Core and heats the air passing around it. A Heater Core is generally built into an HVAC.

Condenser

In an air conditioning cycle, refrigerant is circulated to transfer heat and cool the cabin air. When a fluid refrigerant is vaporized in an evaporator, it cools the surrounding air because of the latent heat of vaporization. The gasified refrigerant must be converted back to a liquid state to be vaporized again to cool the air. To return the gas refrigerant to a liquid form, it needs to be compressed and exposed to the ambient air to be cooled. The Condenser cools the compressed gaseous refrigerant with the external air to turn it back into a liquid state.

Compressor

In an air conditioning cycle, refrigerant is circulated to transfer heat and cool the cabin air. Air Purifier

Air Purifiers use a filter to remove and destroy pollen, dust, mold spores, toxic materials, odor-causing particles and other substances from the vehicle cabin air that passes through it. Some DENSO models are equipped with a photocatalytic air purification system or a Plasmacluster Ion Generator.

Rear Cooling Unit

The Rear Cooling Unit is a climate control system for rear-seat passengers. Vehicles usually have an air conditioning system in the front of the cabin. A rear-seat air conditioner improves comfort for rear-seat passengers.

In-Car Sensor

The In-Car Sensor measures the cabin air temperature. In-Car Sensor data is sent to the air conditioning system, which helps maintain the cabin at the desired temperature.

Solar Sensor

The Solar Sensor measures the intensity of the sunlight entering the vehicle, which affects how warm the passengers feel. Combined with data provided by other temperature sensors, the Solar Sensor data is sent to the air conditioning system which helps maintain the cabin at the desired temperature.

Humidity Sensor

The Humidity Sensor measures humidity in the cabin. Controlling the cabin air temperature and dehumidifying the cabin air are important functions of automotive air conditioning systems. By preventing windows from fogging and controlling dehumidification, the sensor contributes to fuel efficiency.
