Employee Spotlight: Bonita Montgomery, Industrial Engineer and Mentor

  • Bonita Montgomery

Q: Describe your role and proudest achievement at DENSO.

A: I currently serve as a manager of the Total Industrial Engineering and Automation department at DENSO’s manufacturing facility in Athens, Tennessee.

I have been with the company for almost 18 years, so there are many proud moments. If I had to pick, it would be supporting new engineers as they grow and develop in the company. Another proud moment of mine was making the decision to stop putting limitations on myself and begin actively pursuing leadership positions. This has helped develop new skills, advance my career and improve my mentorship of others so that they too can succeed.

Q: You're also part of DMAT Women in Manufacturing (DMAT: DENSO in Athens). Can you explain what this team does?

A: DMAT Women in Manufacturing (DWiM) BRG focuses on equipping Athens employees with resources and tools to support them as they strive to be successful both inside and outside of DENSO. We host activities revolved around growth and development, as well as community service projects. DWiM wants all associates, not just the women, to thrive and be the best version of themselves.

Q: March is Women's History Month. What does it mean to you?

A: Women’s History Month gives us an opportunity to recognize and honor the achievements of women in our history. It’s an outlet to educate, motivate and encourage future history makers. Being the first, the only one in the room, takes courage and it paves the way for others. We advance our future by understanding the past.
