DENSO Delivers Face Shields to Detroit-Area Front-Line Workers
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (April 23, 2020) – DENSO’s Maryville, Tennessee, facility has been producing face shields for local health care workers since early April . That effort has now expanded to Michigan, as the Maryville facility has produced and shipped 2,500 more face shields to its North American headquarters in Southfield for donation locally.
DENSO’s North American headquarters is shipping this critical personal protective equipment to first responders at the following Detroit-area organizations:
- Southfield Fire Department
- Ascension Health Michigan
- Beaumont Health
- Detroit Homeland Security & Emergency Management
- Hurley Medical Center
DENSO's Maryville and Southfield locations working together to rapidly produce and distribute face shields during this pandemic represents “DENSO Spirit,” a core element of the company’s culture, which is based on collaboration and teamwork. The ability for the teams at these locations to design, modify and ship the shields in a matter of days is testament to their resourcefulness and unified approach.
DENSO will continue to seek ways it can harness its North American and global networks to contribute to the fight against COVID-19. We are grateful to our employees for stepping up in this time of great need and to those on the front line doing everything possible to protect the public.
