DENSO Offers All Employees Free Membership to Women in Manufacturing Association
– Corporate membership promotes DENSO’s commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the auto industry –
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (May 22, 2020) – DENSO , the world’s second largest mobility supplier, announced today it has joined Women in Manufacturing (WiM), the only national trade association dedicated to providing year-round support to women who have chosen a career in manufacturing. With DENSO’s corporate membership, all DENSO employees can access free resources for continuous professional development.
Joining WiM supports DENSO’s larger commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace and the automotive industry at large. In 2016, DENSO established the North American D&I Council to create a culture of inclusion that promotes the diversity of all employees. In 2019, Denise Carlson was named DENSO’s first executive lead of North American D&I to ensure a more inclusive work environment across DENSO's locations.
“Because we know diverse talent is necessary for growth and to being a global mobility leader, we are constantly looking for ways to advance D&I within our organization,” said Denise Carlson, vice president of DENSO's North American Production Innovation Center and executive lead for D&I. “We are thrilled to offer this membership to all our employees. It will help us support women and men of any job function, from the production floor to the C-suite, in their personal and professional development.”
As a corporate member of WiM, DENSO employees have year-round access to virtual, local and national events, online resources, networking opportunities and educational programming. Other membership benefits include a subscription to WiM’s quarterly newsletter, free monthly webinars, and participation in local Chapter programming that connects successful women and men at major corporations throughout the United States.
DENSO is also active in a variety of other D&I-focused programming, organizations and sponsorships, including Automotive News' Leading Women Conference, the Society of Women Engineers, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, to name a few.
