Car Air Conditioner
Compressor
Low-temperature, low-pressure gas refrigerant that has been vaporized in the evaporator through the extraction of heat from the vehicle interior is suctioned and compressed by the compressor. The compressor then sends a high-temperature, high-pressure gas to the condenser that can be readily liquefied. The car A/C system compressor is driven by a belt from the engine and a magnetic clutch
Condenser
The condenser consist of a tube and fin, and is installed in front of the radiator.
The condenser employs a cooling fan or another method to cool the high temperature, high pressure gaseous refrigerant compressed by the compressor.
This changes the gaseous refrigerant to a high temperature, high pressure liquid (liquid mixed with some gas) refrigerant.
Evaporator
The evaporator vapourizes the low temperature, low pressure mist refrigerant supplied by the expansion valve, thereby cooling the air around the evaporator.
Expansion valve
The expansion valve serves two functions:
- After passing through the receiver, the high temperature, high pressure liquid refrigerant is ejected from the orifice. This results in rapid expansion that changes the refrigerant to a low temperature, low pressure mist refrigerant.
- The expansion valve adjusts the volume of refrigerant supplied to the evaporator, according to the thermal load automatically. Press a button to study the box type expansion valve and conventional expansion valve operation.
