Concerning the Specification
What is the Sensor Output Voltage?
When the temperature difference between the front and back of the sensor is about 1°C, the output voltage is D0001 = about 8mv, D0002 = about 30mv, D0003 = about 60mv. By the way, the heat flux at that time is about 800 W / m².
What is the Sensor Response Time?
When the sensor is pressed with a finger to generate heat flux, as the output reaches the maximum value and starts to decrease. If the Response Time can be defined as the time to reach the stable state, then the Response Time is 0.2sec (t0.25mm).
What is the Sensor Temperature Characteristics?
By taking a Room Temperature of 25°C as reference, the temperature characteristics
is within ±5% in a range of 0°C-100°C.
Concerning Handling
How should the sensor be installed? Is there any effect of the sensor itself or the adhesive part on thermal resistance ?
Please paste a single or double tape from above with a thickness of approx. 50μm.
If the thickness is approx. 50μm, there is almost no effect on thermal resistance.
Do you have any recommendations for double sides adhesive tape?
Since stretchable tapes and the like may cause the sensor to unstick & float around, please use tapes with small expansion and contraction such as heat-resistant tape. Therefore, Polyimide type tapes are recommended. (Example: Polyimide tape * For details of manufacturers and products, please contact the dealer).
Can the sensor be used repeatedly?
Basically, please consider the sensor as you would a consumable good.
As a rule of thumb, if the internal resistance of the sensor is less than 1/1000 of the internal resistance of the used logger, then there is practically no issue for repeated use.
Concerning Measurement
How to deal with fluctuations in the Airflow?
Please process with a low pass filter. Recommended for natural convection: 0.1 Hz / recommended for forced conv Please use the function of average processing or moving average processing measurement logger.
Is it possible to separate the influence of convection and radiation?
By using 2 types of sensors (low radiation rate sensors & standard sensors), it is possible to simply separate the influence of convection and radiation. If you are interested in more details, please contact us.
Can the sensor be used underwater?
The specified waterproofness is IPX6 (drainage) and IPX7 (Inundation). Within this range underwater usage is possible.
Other
Please tell us more about “Measurable up to 1/1000°C of Temperature Change”.
When the temperature difference between the front and back of the sensor is 0.001°C, the output voltage for the sensor model D0003 will be about 60 μV (heat flux is about 0.7 W/m2). Thus, it is possible to measure such a difference given that the minimum resolution of the instrument logger is 10 μV.
