DENSO is highly evaluated of their actions about ESG (environment, society, corporate governance) and becomes the constituent of an index of both domestic and foreign socially responsible investment (SRI) or the fund.
FTSE4 Good Index Series
One of the indexes calculated by the London Stock Exchange—owned FTSE Group that selects component stocks based on their ESG performance, specifically, environmental management, climate change mitigation, human rights and workers' rights, supply chain labor standards, and bribery and corruption prevention.
FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that Denso Corporation has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.
FTSE4 Blossom Japan Index
DENSO CORPRATION announces it has been included in the FTSE Blossom Japan Index. Created by the global index company FTSE Russell, the FTSE Blossom Japan Index is designed as an industry neutral benchmark that reflects the performance of companies demonstrating strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices in Japan.
FTSE Russell evaluations are based on performance in areas such as Corporate Governance, Health & Safety, Anti-Corruption and Climate Change. Businesses included in the FTSE Blossom Japan Index meet a variety of environmental, social and governance criteria."
FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index
The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index is designed to measure the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate relatively strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in their respective sectors. To promote the transition to a low-carbon economy, companies with particularly high greenhouse gas emissions are only included if their improvement efforts are recognized based on their TPI Management Quality Score.
FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that DENSO CORPORATION has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index as a result of an independent assessment.
The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index is widely used to create and evaluate sustainable investment funds and other financial products.
MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes
The MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes are offered by the U.S.-based finance company MSCI Inc. These indexes recognize companies that are highly evaluated for their ESG-related initiatives.
MSCI Nihonkabu ESG Select Leaders Indexes
The MSCI Nihonkabu ESG Select Leaders Indexes are also offered by MSCI Inc.
These indexes select companies by industry that are highly evaluated for their ESG-related initiatives from among the companies included in the MSCI Nihonkabu IMI Index.

Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index selects companies that have established gender diversity policies and that thoroughly instill such policies within their corporate culture. The index also selects companies that promise to provide equal opportunities to employees, regardless of gender.
SOMPO Sustainability Index
The SOMPO Sustainability Index, an active index operated by SOMPO Asset Management Co., Ltd., comprises roughly 300 companies associated with outstanding ESG (environmental, social, and governance) initiatives. SOMPO Asset Management uses the index for SOMPO Sustainable Management, a vehicle for pension funds and institutional investors that invests in an array of companies with high ESG ratings.
S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index
The S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index is based on the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX), a representative stock price index that illustrates trends in the Japanese market, and determines the weighting of companies by focusing on their disclosure of environmental information and their level of carbon efficiency (carbon emissions per unit of revenue). By applying such rules as raising the weighting of companies that sufficiently engage in the disclosure of environmental information and companies that have high carbon efficiency (low carbon emissions per unit of revenue), the S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index encourages market-wide environmental initiatives and information disclosure with the aim of invigorating the stock market.
Moody’s Japan K.K.
A leading ESG assessment firm in the global ESG research market DENSO has developed a Sustainable finance framework and received a second party opinion (SPO) from the external evaluation agency Moody’s Japan K.K.
In addition to promoting sustainability management, we will strengthen our fundraising activities to contribute to sustainability from a financial standpoint.
Other Evaluations and Awards
New Diversity Management Selection 100
In 2016, DENSO received this award, which is given to companies that are improving corporate value via initiatives to maximize diverse human resources through diversity management.
PRIDE Index 2023
DENSO was awarded the highest rating of Gold on the PRIDE Index 2023(2 years in a row). The PRIDE Index was established by “work with Pride,” a Japanese volunteer organization that supports and develops diversity management initiatives for sexual minorities in the Japanese workplace, such as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Superior Health & Productivity Companies (the White 500) Program
This program, which is jointly promoted by the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi (Japan Health Council), is not restricted to listed companies and recognizes large corporations that implement superior health and productivity management in collaboration with health insurers. DENSO has been recognized by this program for eight consecutive years, beginning in 2017.

Awards for IR Activities and Integrated Reports
The Company achieved second place in the 2023 Award for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure in the Automobiles/Parts/Tires division, which has been held by The Securities Analysts Association of Japan, being commended for its IR activities and stance on information disclosure.
In addition, DENSO Integrated Report 2023 received the Gold Award of the WICI Japan Integrated Report Award 2023, hosted by WICI (World Intellectual Capital/Assets Initiative) Japan. The report also received the Grand Prix E (Environment) Award for companies with a particularly outstanding environmental performance of the Third Annual NIKKEI Integrated Report Award and was included in the Excellent Reports category by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)’s asset managers entrusted with domestic equity investment.
