Environmental Management (Eco-Management)
We share our “Eco Vision 2035” across all Group companies and promote environmental initiatives in every aspect of our business activities.
Promotion Structure
We hold the “Company-wide Safety, Health and Environment Committee (Chairperson: Executive Vice President)” twice a year, attended by senior management and environmental leaders from across our company. The committee formulates policies, shares progress on activities, and discusses issues and solutions related to environmental initiatives.

Specific Initiatives
Promotion of Group-wide Consolidated Environmental Management
We promote consolidated environmental management by sharing environmental policies and guidelines with companies subject to consolidated environmental management across the Group.
To ensure the steady advancement of environmental initiatives on a global basis, we operate under a six-region structure consisting of Japan, North America, Europe, Asia, China, and South America.
In addition, we hold the Global Safety and Environment Conference annually for regional environmental leaders to review progress toward the Eco Vision targets and address key challenges. Group companies also formulate annual plans and promote activities aimed at achieving Eco Vision goals.
As part of the evaluation (“Check”) and improvement (“Action”) processes of consolidated environmental management, we conduct environmental assessments of Group companies in Japan and overseas. Through on-site evaluations, we verify the status of environmental risk countermeasures, environmental impact reduction initiatives (including CO2 emissions and waste reduction), and environmental social contribution activities, thereby driving continuous improvement across the Group.
Acquisition of ISO 14001 Certification and Implementation of Environmental Audits
We have acquired, maintained, and renewed certification for our Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001 at all production companies in Japan and overseas.
In 2016, we completed an early transition to the 2015 version of ISO 14001. In addition, to strengthen governance and improve operational efficiency, we integrated the environmental management systems of our domestic sites into a single system beginning in FY2010 and obtained integrated certification. Starting in FY2020, we also advanced efforts to obtain unified certification together with our domestic group companies, completing the process in FY2024. In the same fiscal year, unified certification for operations in China was also completed. Going forward, we will further expand global unified certification and continue efforts to maintain and enhance our integrated management system.
Environmental Risk Management
We establish and operate the “DENSO Safety, Health and Environment Management Standards (DAS),” which are more stringent than the environmental laws and regulations of each country and region. Based on the location and business characteristics of each site, we identify potential environmental risks, including environmental accidents, pollution, and regulatory non-compliance, and work proactively to prevent incidents and minimize risks. In particular, we continuously reinforce compliance with regulations and internal standards related to wastewater and air emissions exceeding voluntary standards, oil spills, chemical leaks, soil and groundwater contamination, noise and odor issues, and violations associated with waste treatment and recycling. In addition, we have established operational management standards for industrial specialty gases, including specified high-pressure gases and semiconductor material gases, to help prevent disasters and accidents affecting employees and local communities.
Regarding complaints from neighboring communities, we follow the principles of:
(1) preventing abnormalities and incidents from occurring, and
(2) minimizing impacts and ensuring prompt and transparent disclosure of information in the event of an incident.
To support these efforts, we conduct routine inspections, monitoring, and annual emergency response drills.
In FY2025, there were no material violations of environmental laws or significant environmental litigation cases.
Environmental Education
To advance company-wide environmental management with the participation of all employees, it is essential that each individual maintains a high level of environmental awareness and puts it into practice. At DENSO, we promote environmental awareness through training programs and events so that every employee can recognize environmental stewardship as part of their mission and take action toward realizing a sustainable society in accordance with their respective roles, responsibilities, and positions.
Environmental Education for Employees
We provide mandatory role-based training through instructor-led programs to ensure that employees at each organizational level acquire the knowledge required for their responsibilities. In addition, voluntary self-development programs utilizing e-learning are offered to encourage employees to deepen their understanding of environmental topics. We also provide Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) training for product design engineers as well as personnel in sales and purchasing divisions. These programs promote a foundational understanding of LCA and enhance awareness of the objectives of “Eco Vision 2025.”

Training for Global Environmental Staff
To enhance the expertise of environmental staff at production sites, we are promoting initiatives to “visualize technical competencies based on our internal Safety and Environmental Skill Standards,” as well as “developing educational tools and a competency certification system.” In addition, we hold environmental meetings based on the action plan of Eco Vision 2025 to strengthen and advance environmental activities across all global group companies.
DENSO Group Environmental Awareness Month Activities
In conjunction with the United Nations’ “World Environment Day on June 5,” we have designated June as “Environmental Awareness Month” and are implementing a variety of initiatives to encourage each employee to think about environmental issues as a personal responsibility and take action.
In FY2025, we distributed a video message from the President, emphasizing that in addition to fully carrying out environmental initiatives as part of daily operations, maintaining a high level of environmental awareness and proactive behavior in everyday activities is essential. The program also introduced examples of environmental activities by DENSO Group employees and highlighted various environmental events.
Raising Environmental Awareness Through Environmental Events
– Green Curtain Initiative [DENSO Corp.] –
In addition to creating a comfortable and motivating workplace where employees can work with enthusiasm, we promote environmental awareness by encouraging employees and their families to learn about biodiversity and natural ecosystems through the experience of cultivating green curtains at home. For example, employees are encouraged to identify and learn about the characteristics of living organisms discovered while growing green curtains, thereby fostering awareness and understanding of biodiversity conservation through hands-on activities.

Communication with Society
We actively engage in cross-industry external collaboration and proactively disclose environmental information to all stakeholders.
To maximize the effectiveness of our environmental initiatives, we actively pursue collaboration beyond industry boundaries whenever necessary and demonstrate leadership through such initiatives. In addition, to foster stakeholder understanding and empathy for our efforts, we disclose environmental information in a proactive and timely manner.
For example, we disclose environmental information through our corporate website. In 2019, we announced our support for the recommendations of the “Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).” Since then, we have been analyzing climate change-related risks and opportunities that may impact our business and incorporating the results into our business strategies. We also disclose related information in line with the TCFD recommendations.
In addition, we actively participate in the CDP [Note 1] questionnaires on “Climate Change” and “Water Security.” We were selected for the highest rating, the “A List,” in both categories for three consecutive years: 2022, 2023, and 2024. We will continue striving to improve both the quality and transparency of our environmental disclosures. We also participate in exhibitions and trade shows in Japan and overseas as opportunities to promote understanding of our environmental initiatives and engage with a wide range of stakeholders. At these events, we showcase environmentally conscious products and technologies, as well as interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences. We also introduce advanced environmental technologies at motor shows and other events held around the world.
[Note 1] CDP: An international non-governmental organization (NGO) through which institutional investors collaborate to encourage companies worldwide to disclose information on their climate change strategies and greenhouse gas emissions.
Engagement with Society
We have participated since 2000 as a founding member of the “Environmental Partnership Club (EPOC),” a voluntary organization comprising approximately 280 major companies in the Chubu region. Since 2020, we have served as the lead company for the Resource Circulation Subcommittee, promoting the transition toward a circular economy and recycling-oriented society by sharing the latest information on resource circulation, including emerging social trends and advanced initiatives.
In the area of biodiversity, we support the “Keidanren Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation Declaration” and participate in the Keidanren “30by30 Alliance for Biodiversity.” Regarding climate change, we actively participate in initiatives led by the Japan Auto Parts Industries Association (JAPIA) and the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.
Building Green Partnerships Across the Supply Chain
We procure materials, components, and other products across a wide range of fields from numerous suppliers. Guided by our globally shared “Green Procurement Guidelines,” we have worked together with suppliers to advance environmental initiatives. Through these efforts, we strive to reduce environmental impacts throughout the entire product life cycle while promoting the efficient use of resources and energy among suppliers and across the DENSO Group. Since FY2017, we have also conducted self-assessment surveys to identify and evaluate supply chain CO2 emissions and water-related risks.
