COA HVAC
The HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) system regulates air temperature and flow volume to keep the cabin comfortable. To address growing environmental concerns, DENSO has developed the COA HVAC, which achieves both cabin comfort and environmental performance by reducing the size and weight of the system and improving energy efficiency.
Feature
High Energy Efficiency
Typically, engine waste heat is used for heating a vehicle's cabin. However, for vehicles that generate less waste heat -, such as hybrid vehicles or vehicles equipped with a stop-start system - the engine creates air heating energy, impairing the fuel economy. DENSO's COA HVAC solves this issue by recirculating the heated air and keeping it in the cabin to reduce the heating energy required.
Technology
New Blower Unit
DENSO has implemented a new blower structure with upper and lower circulation to push air to the driver's and passenger's feet, as well as to the windshield in the upper part of the cabin. The new fan blade shape and smaller size optimize air flow, increasing its efficiency.
Compared to conventional HVAC systems, the heat energy required in DENSO's COA HVAC system is reduced by 30 percent, the size by 20 percent and the power consumption by 20 percent.
