DENSO to Exhibit at the 23rd ITS World Congress Melbourne 2016
KARIYA (Japan) ― DENSO Corporation will exhibit at the 23rd World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems, which will be held in Melbourne, Australia, October 10 - 14. The theme of DENSO’s exhibition at the conference this year is “DENSO’s advanced driver assistance and automated driving technologies to provide safer driver assistance.”
DENSO is developing advanced driver assistance system and automated driving technologies in *five key function areas and will present its goal in each of the functions as well as the technologies and products that DENSO is developing to achieve them. Moreover, DENSO will exhibit a simulator that enables visitors to experience its technology that can estimate the driver’s tension level based on how the driver is using the accelerator pedal. DENSO is working on this futuristic technology that will be used to detect the state of the driver and for other applications.
DENSO is developing technologies and products to help create a society free from road traffic accidents. Based on these, DENSO will continue to build a safe automotive society for all people around the world, not just for drivers and pedestrians.
* Five strategic areas and their exhibits
| Area | Exhibit |
| Sensing Using various types of sensors around the vehicle to precisely monitor the surrounding area even in a harsh environment | Millimeter-wave radar sensors and vision sensors help realize active safety systems including an adaptive cruise control system and an autonomous emergency braking system |
| Forecast Ability Determining the position of the vehicle, which lane the vehicle is traveling in, and what is happening on the road ahead | ADAS locator that uses Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) location information and images taken by a camera with high–accuracy map data to determine which lane the vehicle is traveling in On-board V2X equipment to enable vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication |
| Connection to Driver Determining the state of the driver and informing the driver of information detected by the vehicle | Driver status monitor to determine the driver’s face direction, eye-opening degree, and other characteristics |
| Fail Operational Fail-operation system to prepare for unexpected situations | 2-Drive Electric Power Steering (EPS), which has two independent power assist systems to maintain steering power assistance for smooth driving if by some remote chance either one of them malfunctions |
| Cyber Security Multi-layered security to protect the vehicle from the threat of information hacks | Information security system with four layers of security to protect the vehicle from cyber-attacks |
