Toshiba and DENSO Agree to Develop jointly

Toshiba and DENSO will jointly develop an artificial intelligence technology called Deep Neural Network-Intellectual Property (DNN-IP) for next-generation image recognition systems. To achieve automated driving, automotive computers need to be able to identify different road traffic situations including a variety of obstacles and unoccupied road spaces. DNN-based image recognition systems can learn the characteristics of objects on their own, and significantly improves the identification and detection of a wide range of objects.

DENSO adopts Sony’s image sensor

The use of Sony’s vision sensors in DENSO’s in-vehicle cameras has improved the camera performance, and enabled the recognition of pedestrians at night. It will contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents at night, which often involve pedestrians and can be serious.
