DENSO to exhibit at the 17th ITS World Congress 2010

Oct. 21, 2010

KARIYA (Japan) - DENSO Corporation will exhibit at the 17th ITS World Congress 2010 to be held Monday, Oct. 25 - Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, in Busan, South Korea.

DENSO's "Three CONNECTs"

DENSO's research and development in the Information Transportion Systems (ITS) field focuses on realizing three ideals for the automotive society -earth-friendly, peace-of-mind and safety, and an exciting driving experience. DENSO will demonstrate its wide-range of engineering capabilities and corporate commitment through exhibiting various technologies and products based on "Three CONNECTs" - "connecting people with vehicles," "connecting people with society," and "connecting vehicles with society" - which are essential for achieving these ideals.

The exhibition booth will feature a futuristic cockpit called "Synchronism Concept" that will demonstrate applications embodying future technologies related to the "Three CONNECTs." As an example of a "connecting people with vehicles" application, DENSO will exhibit its Driver Drowsiness detection, which is based on images of the driver's face captured by an onboard camera. If the application detects the driver's drowsiness, it displays nearby rest places such as a coffee house on the navigation map; when one of them is selected, it starts route guidance.

As an example of a "connecting people with society" application, people can download the latest instrument panel designs from the popular instrument panel ranking list on the website via a smart phone installed to the steering wheel; the driver can select an instrument panel and display it on the TFT instrument cluster.

Lastly, as an example for "connecting vehicles with society," a technology using vehicles-to-roadside communications will be introduced. In this application, the onboard ECU calculates and displays on the instrument cluster the recommended cruising speed to drive safely through green intersections without having to stop at red lights.

In addition, the company will display various ITS-related technologies and products in its exhibit booth, including a green driving advisory system that supports fuel-efficient driving; multi support vision system that aids the driver to overcome visual blind spots that can occur under various driving conditions, and smart phone connectivity that enables safe in-vehicle use of smart phone.
