Color usage

Color combinations

Color combinations Two colors

Charts, diagrams and infographics generally contain some DENSO Red, Crafting Blue or secondary grays.
The green and yellow colors combined with Crafting Blue or light gray may play a prominent role when the messaging is about environmental issues or agriculture and thermal solutions, for example.

Preferred combinations

Combinations of primary colors, secondary grays and the top-priority supplementary red or blue colors in both light and dark tones.

  • Crafting Blue in combination with green, purple or yellow supplementary colors in hues that ensure legible contrast.

  • Exceptions: In special cases where it has been decided that the DENSO brand should not stand out, supplementary colors may be combined with secondary grays.

Combinations to avoid

  • Avoid combinations with poor contrast.

  • Avoid colorful and compact color combinations.

  • Avoid color combinations with no DENSO Red, Crafting Blue or secondary grays.

Color combinations Three colors

Charts, diagrams and infographics generally contain some DENSO Red, Crafting Blue or secondary grays.
When combining colors make sure that the expression does not become dark and heavy.
Always use light colors that provide counterplay to dark colors.

Solid background colors

White, DENSO Red, Crafting Blue and neutral grays may be used as solid background colors.
Please note that white plays a very important role in all brand communications and provides a light and simple overall expression. DENSO Red, Crafting Blue and dark grays may only be used for solid colored backgrounds to a limited extent.

  • For example, use a colored background for breaker slides in PowerPoint.

  • Use a light gray background to separate and order content in layouts.

  • Use a colored background to make specific content stand out.

Use of DENSO Red

  • Creating focus

DENSO Red is often used to place focus on a given technology, highlighting and explaining our technologies.

  • Action & Interaction

We use DENSO Red to encourage interaction with our brand.

Giving meaning to colors

There are times when it makes good sense to visually differentiate by color. When doing so it is important not to mix the meaning of particular colors in the communication.
When several color "codings" have to work side by side, consider choosing different hues of one color to create a visual impression that is as simple and clear as possible. Neutral grays may play an important role in order to balance the expressive use of color.

  • Example in which the UN SDG goals, the four focus fields of DENSO, and a chart appear together. The neutral grays balance the layout.

Supplementary colors applied in layouts

In combination with the primary and secondary brand colors the supplementary colors are used for infographics, charts and illustrations.
There are no fixed rules as long as you pay attention to the overall look of the entire layout. Leave generous amounts of white space and use the right amount of red. At times, less is more: the red will stand out and get attention when used with care.
